You Have Power & Authority
Dec 13, 2021Luke 10:19 AMP
Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.
As a disciple of Christ, you have power and authority. The question is, do you actually know what power and authority you have, and are you using it?
Look what the above scripture promises.
- I have given you authority
- That you now possess
- The ability to exercise authority
- Over all the power of the enemy
Notice it says ALL THE POWER of the enemy.
The first century church had very high expectations of their power and authority because they were witness to signs, wonders and miracles on a regular basis. They used this power and authority to demolish satanic strongholds and works of the devil. All in the name of Jesus!
It's easy to think, well that's what they did back then, but we don't have that kind of power. Remember, the full Bible wasn't around for the first three hundred years after the time of Jesus. They didn't have access to the the New Testament, it was written for us.
Let's look to scripture.
John 14:12-14 AMP - I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name [as My representative], I will do it.
- Anyone who believes in me will also do the things I do
- He will do even greater things than these, in extent and outreach
- I will do whatever you ask in my name
You also have the power to bind and loose.
Matthew 16:19 - I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth [will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.
Now take a look at the kind of power you have. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead.
Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV - I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.
Take some time meditating on these four biblical promises.
- Luke 10:19
- John 14:12-14
- Matthew 16:19
- Ephesians 1:18-20
Now ask yourself, is it possible you have a delegated power and authority you are not leveraging for the Kingdom of God? Is it possible you actually have more power and authority over your circumstances and obstacles?
If these scriptures are true (and they are), how would you use this power and authority resist the devil's decision to take you out? After all these years how is it possible that you were unaware of what was really possible? Never limit your future to your past limited experiences. Never limit what God has already done for you based on your reality.
Remember, 70 percent of pastors/churches (woke Christianity) no longer believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. Less than 15 percent of Christians read the Bible on a regular basis. And less than 5 percent of Christians have a world view based on the Bible.
Meditate on these scriptures, ask the God for the spiritual discernment to receive them by faith. If you can receive these by faith, think of what could change in your life. You'll find there are many things you've been asking God to do, that's he's already empowered you to do.
Could it be He's been waiting on you?
