When People Attack You

Dec 16, 2021

Deuteronomy 28:7 NIV - The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

If you are pursuing a God-planted dream, enemies will attack you. They did it to Jesus, the disciples, and they will do it to you. It's not a matter of if, it's when.

They will accuse and lie about you with intent to kill, steal and destroy your future. These attacks will come from enemy fire and surprisingly, friendly fire.

- God's enemies are your enemies. They are satan and His demonic forces, and the people who reject God and hate Christians.

- Unfortunately, you will also get attacked from fellow believers. Remember, it was the religious community that crucified Jesus.

Both groups can be hateful, vicious, and full of venom.

But the above scripture is part of a series of biblical promises found in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. These promises are from God, to you, when you are walking in His plan and purpose for your life. This is what God's blessings on your life look like. God lets you know in advance you will have attackers, but they will be defeated in front of you. This is part of His blessings for His children, that's us. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 is a must read to see what biblical success looks like. Put in on. Wear it by faith. Declare it. Receive it. Speak it.

When you are attacked, declare Psalm 91 over your life. I love verses 9-10. See the condition, "IF".

Psalm 91:9-10 NIV - If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

Now, let's look at God's promises of protection from these attackers.

  1. God promises to bring everything hidden into the light. Your attacker will be exposed.

Luke 8:17 NIV For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

  2. God promises to avenge you. Your attacker will pay the price.

Romans 12:19 AMP - Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God’s wrath [and His judicial righteousness]; for it is written [in Scripture], “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

  3. God promised your attackers will not succeed against you.

Isaiah 54:17 AMP - “No weapon that is formed against you will succeed; And every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn. This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.

From the message translation - Any accuser who takes you to court will be dismissed as a liar.

  4. God promises to prepare a table before you. I love it when this happens!

Psalm 23:5 AMP - You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with [oil; My cup overflows.

  5. God promises to defeat the real terrorist behind the attacks. Sorry satan, you are defeated!

Ephesians 6:12-13 NIV - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

If your attacker is a person, we are ordered by God to love them, pray for them, and forgive them. If you do, God will bless you abundantly. It will allow you to stay out of strife — strife chokes off the blessing of the Lord.

Luke 6:27-28 NIV “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Proverbs 25:21-22 NIV - If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.

So whether the attacks come from the radical left, lovers of anti-God ideologies, a co-worker or another Christian, this is how you walk in the blessings of Deuteronomy 28:1-14. Be blessed and highly favored!

BTW — In verses 15-68, the curses for disobedience no longer apply to Christ-followers because we are redeemed from the curse. (Galatians 3:13)
