Just Ask For What You Want

Dec 09, 2021

Matthew 7:9-11 NIV - Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

God wants to answer our prayers. He tells us to ask and it will be given to us. To seek and we will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you.

There are so many biblical promises assuring us that we can approach God with boldness and confidence and He will answer our prayers.

Read Matthew 7:9-11 carefully.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

It couldn't be clearer. Our Father in heaven wants us to approach Him knowing He desires to bless us. There is a part of our flesh that is inclined to doubt Him, no matter how many time He reassures us, sometimes we act like a scared dog someone is trying to feed, skeptical and untrusting.

We need the freedom and ease to just tell Him what we want. Just ask.

- He already knows our needs.

- He already know our desires.

- He already knows our hearts.

Why aren't we more confident when we approach our Father in prayer? Perhaps we don't know Him like we should. Perhaps we are under condemnation and we don't feel good enough. Jesus has paid the price for us to have access to God. He paid the price for us to receive from God. Trust this.

Today when you approach God in prayer, envision Him speaking Matthew 7:9-11 to you. Hear His words. Feel His reassurance. Experience His love. Then just ask Him for what you need, for what you desire.

Remember, He's the one that offered, you are just doing what He asked you to do. Experience this boldness and confidence today when you make your requests.

And then, just trust Him to not lie to you. Don't go there! Instead, tell Him how much you love Him, that we can have a Father who is so generous with us.

This approach will change your relationship with Abba Father.
