Has God ever planned on killing you?

Oct 10, 2023

Has God ever planned on killing you?

It happened to Moses. But why?

God chooses Moses, a murderer, for an important assignment. Moses feels under-qualified and begins to question God’s decision:

- Why have you chosen me?
- How will I do it?
- What if I fail?

Moses chickens out and tells God to send someone else. God wasn’t happy. So God gave Moses a partner, Aaron.

>> And then after all that — God plans a meeting with Moses TO KILL HIM!

Why in the world would God (AKA LOVE) want to kill Moses after all of this.

Exodus 4:24 AMP - Now it happened at the lodging place, that the Lord met Moses and sought to kill him. [making him deathly ill because he had not circumcised one of his sons].

Because back then, the Hebrews were required to circumcise their boys, and most likely to please his wife, Moses had not. The penalty was death.

Remember … If God is Love, and He is, then we might not fully understand His definition of Love. At the last moment, Moses’s wife circumcised his son and Moses avoids death.

Aren’t you glad you and I are under grace? That all of our sins, past, present and future are 100% forgiven. That we will not be punished as our sins deserve.

But make no mistake, when God calls you for one of His assignments, at some point He will demand your obedience. It’s non-negotiable.

There might be things in your life you think God will continue to allow. Don’t be fooled. God requires obedience.

>> Don’t worry, God’s not going to kill you or punish you. But you won’t be able to walk through certain doors until you learn obedience. Not perfection, but obedience.

Though Jesus never sinned, He learned obedience. How? Through His suffering. (Hebrews 5:8)

If you feel called by God, (and you are) you will have to become obedient. When He tells you to jump, your response should be “how high?”.

You’ll be required to do things, learn things, the hard things that you might be resisting.

If you are looking for a breakthrough in your life, you’ll have to check your disobedience at the door. God wants people who can follow orders.

Obedience is the key to freedom, the key that will unlock the doors that have been closed to you.

Walk through the door. Jesus is with you!
