From laid off to startup founder ...

Some of the greatest founders ever — will be birthed out of a recent layoff.

You have a great job
Great pay
Great team
Great boss

Feels like family. Until you get the cold-notice that you have been chosen to leave the family.

- When you started you felt like you were adopted in.
- Not you just got adopted out.

Now what?

I'm sure someone has written a book about the "x" stages of grieving getting let go. Perhaps you start to try to make sense of it all, how could this happen to you? Why you and not someone else?

So what's next?

Take a day and ponder this question. 

- What would you attempt to accomplish if you had the resources and knew you couldn't fail. Would you start a business of your own?

Before you answer the question, let me ask another one, another way.

- What would you attempt to do if you had the resources of God on your side, and you knew that you could not fail?

I can't tell you how many faith-driven founders I've talked to who decided to go after their God-planted dreams after they experienced a great setback — like getting laid off or getting fired.

Let me just say this to you. Often times when God calls us into a new mission or assignment (like a startup) it's when we don't have the resources, or the ability, and we are likely to fail without His divine intervention.

Go for it! 

Even if you divide your time between looking for a new job and planning a startup, if you think the entrepreneurial seed is inside you, water it.

All I'm saying is start asking yourself, what if?
